La Garenne nestles on the outskirts of a small hamlet of eight houses, surrounded by fields and beautiful views. There is no traffic and the most noise you will hear while sipping a glass of wine, is the birds singing. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday then La Garenne is the perfect place. The central pool and garden provide a communal playground and area to bask in the sun while other areas in the grounds offer space for peace and relaxation.

Many of our guests are content to spend all of their time around our grounds. However, there are plenty of activities right on our doorstep if you feel so inclined.

A short stroll across the sunflower fields is our local vineyard, where you can have a taste of the local wine and famous Pineau.

The beautiful forest of Aulnay is just a five minute walk from La Garenne. The forest has purpose built trails for walking and biking and if you feel like a nice morning run, it is the perfect place for that too. You can also borrow a picnic basket from us and have a wonderful day in the forest.

The charming town of Aulnay, with its weekly market day, is a five minute drive away. Here you will also find a supermarket, pharmacies, bars, cafes and restaurants surrounding the town square.

Just outside of Aulnay, a ten minute drive away, is a very nice horseriding stable. The owners speak english and are very helpful if you would like to have a ride.

Nearby is the Chateaux de Dampierre sur Boutonne. It is worth a visit even though it is in the process of being restored after a fire a few years ago. Parts of the castle are still open and you can still enjoy the beautiful gardens. Also in Dampierre is the donkey sanctuary where they breed rare donkeys - well worth a visit for the children.
